Altus High Flyers.   Our year is ending on a great note.

We started the month with a campout with our church. We camped out for three days while attending church, hiking, and swimming all in the same location.

Before we left the area we visited the nature center to learn about the animals and plants that we had been sharing space with.
Later in the month we had the great pleasure of entertaining Chuck and Donna Hill our pathfinder coordinators. They invested Aaron with his new rank of sunbeam and of many awards that he has worked very hard on. During investiture Aaron had to tell the church what we did this year in Adventutures and about Adventuture fun day. Before the month ended we also went to a local museum to learn about the history of our town and Oklahoma.

Our club worked on a project for both the church and school.  We sorted and cut labels that had been turned in for the Investment area of the church-Worthington, Loma Linda, Morning Star, etc.  The money from the labels will be turned in for evangelism in the Oklahoma Conference.  We also cut out the Education for School labels as well as Campbells, etc. for the school.  It is amazing how many labels people turn in.  We felt this was a good project for us to help out our school and church.  There is so much going on this month-not much time to meet!

Our group has had a very busy month!! We started the month with going to the Medieval Festival in Norman. We learned about the renaissance era and how they dressed. We dressed up in the period clothing and experienced the atmosphere of the shopping market of the period. We watched acrobats and mistrals, a human chess game, story tellers, and jousting. They also got to try on armor and eat some real era candy.

On the 2nd we went to see and meet Mike e a drug free power lifter who holds a world record in the dead lift. Mike was in Hobart doing two special programs for the youth of our community. We went to the evening program that was Christ oriented. Mike is 5’4’’ and weighs 122lbs. In has program he talks about how Jesus loves and takes care of us and gives us strength. Mike dead lifted 600 lbs total which is 27 lbs over his world record. He then did rack out lifts. He explained to the audience that science says that as a 122lb person he should only be able to lift up to 4 times his body weight. Any thing over that it should crush every bone in his body. For his weight that is 910 lbs. He expressed to the audience that he was not lifting or doing anything without Gods care and love he then broke his world record and lifted 1000 lbs. All of the youth received blessing and got to see a very exciting uplifting program.

Last but not least we helped raise money for our new community playground!! The children also got to help plan the layout of the playground and we participated in the build of it. Our instructor also got to spend the night babysitting the equipment. We all love the new playground and it is a great new place for our youth to spend time.

The Adventurer Fun Day was a great way to end this months activities!! We really enjoyed the pioneer games and activities. We learned lots of great info about our early settlers. Thank you!!
