The OKC
Trailblazers were busy in April with bicycling and bread
dough honors. We bicycled to prepare for the 50 mile
Bike Ride in Davis during the Conference Camporee.
Unfortunately, we were unable to do the 50 mile bicycle
ride due to the rain all morning at the Conference
Camporee. The kids loved the camporee especially riding
on the shovels. I am sure that some of the parents will
be shocked when they see the pictures of their children
riding on the back of a tractor. Our club has also
worked on the Bread Dough Honor. The kids loved making
the salt dough and have been very creative in their
projects.
During
March, the OKC Trailblazers worked on finishing
up classwork and the computer honor, and going
on our spring club campout. For our spring club
campout, the Trailblazers invited a special
guest to accompany us and teach us the
Wilderness Living Honor. We had a great time
except that it was very cold on Sunday morning
and some of our Pathfinders did not come
prepared with winter coats after we had told
them to do so. They thought that since it was
shorts weather on Friday when we left to camp,
that a coat was not needed! We finished the
campout with an Easter egg hunt organized by one
of the parents. Even our 15 year olds loved the
egg hunt!

This month, the OKC Trailblazers
focused on the Cake Decorating Honor. We have a very
experienced cake decorator who is a member of our
church. The Pathfinders were so excited about learning
this honor. They had a sugary time! I think the most
fun they had was making messes so they could eat the
icing!
All in all, their cakes turned
out cute! This honor worked well in February as the
kids could give their finished creations to their
parents (or, as in the case of one of our 15 year old
boys, his girlfriend of 1 day) for Valentines Day! The
parents (and the girlfriend and her family) were very
impressed with the cakes and their kids creativity.

The OKC Trailblazers were very busy this month. We went
birding on one Sabbath afternoon and saw many birds
which winter down South in Oklahoma. We also practiced
for the Bible Bowl. On another Sabbath afternoon, we
spent several hours studying together for the Bible
Bowl. We followed up the practice that evening with our
Induction Service and an outing to play laser tag and
eat pizza. The following day we conducted our annual
International Food Festival to raise funds for the club
to attend the International Pathfinder Camporee!

The OKC Trailblazers participated in the OKC Stockyards
Christmas Parade. We planned to wear straw cowboy hats
with red bandanas on the crown, but the wind kept
blowing the hats off, so we went without the hats.
Karen Gilman brought her pony Sir Leo and his cart and
she drove him as we marched. We got so much applause
for our group and lots of oohs and aahhs over Leo. The
Pathfinders had a terrific time. We also passed out
Junior Guides to kids along the parade route.
